39 Weeks and Nursery Reveal!
**This is a pregnancy-related post, so please feel free to skip this post if you're not up for it. God bless.**
HELLO HELLO!
I am 39 weeks today, which means that my due date is ONE WEEK AWAY. Wow. Wowowowowowowow.
So, to distract myself from the ridiculous onslaught of emotions, I decided to finally give you all a sneak peek at our nursery! Although initially I wasn't interested in decorating much, since we are planning on making our new bedroom (the one currently under construction) the baby's room come spring, once I got started I couldn't stop! My mom and I had a blast putting this room together, although gender-neutral sure is hard! I hope you all like it!

Although initially I wasn't interested in decorating much, since we are planning on making our new bedroom (the one currently under construction) the baby's room come spring, once I got started I couldn't stop! Baby's library!
View from baby's changing table!
Baby's first photos...
And baby's cute nightstand!
Baby's closet, plus the bassinet that will be in our room (and my diaper bag)!
My cloth diaper stash, washed and ready!
Baby's crib and gallery wall! We have one more piece of "art" on the way for the top right frame, and the bottom two will be photos!
Baby's corner shelf, finally decorated!
The room in all of its glory! Can't wait to rock my sweetie to sleep in our new glider!
So that's that, a true labor of love. Sometimes I just walk in this room, sit down, and just smile. When I picture myself taking care of baby in this room, my heart just melts. A big, goopy, melty heart mess. I am so, so, so excited.
I also got this little project finished!
Just a little something to thank my nurses and doctors. If I am anywhere near as high-maintenance during labor as I have been throughout pregnancy, they certainly deserve a little treat for "dealing with me." HA!
On to the bump, and medical update...
WOWIE WOWIE WOWZA! And I'm bigger in real life, trust me!
How far along? 39 weeks, and baby is the size of a PUMPKIN. A PUMPKIN?! REALLY?! No wonder my back is so sore!
Clothing? Super casual...loving my job on the couch!
Stretch marks? Oh yes! And oh well!
Sleep? Many bathroom trips, lots of tossing and turning, and my swollen joints still wake me up a bit. BUT! I am still sleeping, so I shouldn't complain!
Best moment of this week? Seeing and hearing baby's HB this week...something that absolutely never gets old.
Worst moment of this week? Sunday, she had SUCH a quiet day that I was an absolute basket case. She has since revved back up again, but it was enough to give me a heart attack.
Miss anything? I'm hangin' in there! And doctor said NO to the glass of wine...BUMMER!
Movement? See above. Sunday was rough (for me, not her I'm sure), but since then, the pops and rolls have resurfaced. She is still a wiggly little worm, as much as she can be in those cramped quarters!
Symptoms? Cramping, contractions, achy hips and pelvis, increased pressure in my pelvis, pregnancy brain, swollen (and sore) fingers/joints, upper/lower linea nigra, nesting, heartburn/acid reflux, and a whole new level of HUGENESS! The waddle is in full swing and here to stay!
Food cravings? Cereal, milk, gummy bears, and BEN AND JERRY'S ICE CREAM!
Gender? Sticking with girl, although my family's "birth pool" is split right down the middle.
Labor Signs? Sorta, but nothing substantial. See update below.
Belly button in or out? Out.
Wedding rings on/off? Off, and missing them.
Mood? A HUGE CRAZY BALL OF EMOTIONS (mostly good ones)!!!
Rituals? Nighttime lullaby, holy water on the belly in the morning, holy oil on the belly at night. Routine bedtime chats. And a few playful poke fests to watch the baby squirm around in my belly!
Milestones? Baby is officially and medically considered FULL TERM TODAY!!!
Looking forward to? My LAST PRE-NATAL VISIT next Monday, non-stress test today (another chance to see the baby!), mani-pedi with mom next week, and BABY'S BIRTHDAY!!!
This week's pregnancy-small-talk-gems (aka things other people say to pregnant ladies without thinking): All of the sudden people are being really nice to me. I must be more pitiful than I think! Either way, I'll take it!
Notes from doctor’s appointment (Dad, and men reading other than Tim, you may want to avoid this section from now on if you're sensitive): Okay, so here's the scoop. After my frantic no-movement Sunday, I was anxious to see and hear baby on Monday. She was doing fine, but the doc was having a hard time picking up her heartbeat...so into an ultrasound we went. Apparently she was directly in line with my spine, which is why the doc had a heart time. Once he got her on the ultrasound, he got a nice strong 152 BPM which was so reassuring! He also checked her fluid level (great), her "breathing" (great), and her movement (great). But he did notice that her head was "pretty big," as he put it. He and my other doctor want me to have at least a shot at natural labor, but with the size of her head and my narrow pelvis, my odds decrease the more she grows. SO! If she does not come on her own before next week, I will be induced NEXT WEDNESDAY. Yes, you head right, next Wednesday. We have an end date in sight, and that is...totally surreal. Please pray for us!!! I know many of you will be tempted to chime in with your opinions on inductions etc. etc., but please know that my doctor is a wonderful amazing smart Catholic doctor whom I trust with all of my heart. I know this induction (on my due date) is designed to help me avoid C-section, which is my primary goal at this point, and so I support his decision.
And, of course, although I'm still "very soft" and baby is low, no real progress had been made. I am still not dilated, and baby's head, while low, is not AS low as the doctor would like. I don't expect I will go into labor on my own, but it's also not impossible! Any tips guys?! I've been chugging raspberry leaf tea, my doctor didn't put a whole lot of stock into any other methods...but I am open to tips and suggestions. Lay 'em on me!
Thanks to all of you who sent intentions last week, and please feel free to keep them coming. I would be honored to pray for you guys while I'm in labor (and will do so regardless of receiving specific prayers), so please feel free to send them along!
That's it for now! Trying to keep cool for now...oh, who am I kidding?! I AM TOTALLY FREAKIN' OUT!!!! I WILL HAVE A BABY IN ONE WEEK OR LESS!!!!
Have an amazing week ladies!
With 2 overdue babies under my belt and one induction I can tell you to try whatever sounds easy enough (pineapple) but not to stress. Babies are born on their birthday. With C I know that I spent so many days walking and walking to no avail that I was just tired and sore.
ReplyDeleteI am going to put my 2 cents into the girl pot.
And I LOVE the nursery. So clean and crisp. I just love it.
Oh and of course we'll be praying for you, T and that baby!!
DeleteFWIW, my doc, says inductions can take a good natural turn, if you are nice & soft.. My kid has a big head too. I have an induction date scheduled for 39w 4 days if he doesn't come out on his own.
ReplyDeleteAs for natural means to help him out. Castor Oil ( you can look it up ). or creating your own natural oxytocin ( you and your husband) or you can hook up to a breast pump for a bit, to create oxytocin.
I'm waiting a week to try natural methods, because my doctor is out of town next week ( uggh ) .
Praying for you guys !!
Prayers for you and baby and a safe delivery!
ReplyDeleteIf I could take you up on your prayer intention offer, please pray for my new baby. We lost our first baby last June at 15 weeks and I'm now 10 weeks and anxious with this sweet little one. Thank you!
I pop over here from time to time from Joy Beyond the Cross. It gives me such hope to see other people have healthy pregnancies after losses. So thank you for sharing your story!
I know plenty of people who used castor oil to help get things moving. Apparently it's a doula and midwife trick? Had never heard of it before my friends gave birth after their "castor oil shake". Yeah, it sounds glamorous...
ReplyDeleteGood luck and Happy Birthday soon, baby Holi! :)
Beautiful nursery! Wow! Can't believe you'll be filling that nursery in a week or less. Awesome, but I can understand freaking out! :)
ReplyDeleteSWOONING over your nursery! Can't wait to see baby and mama pictures taken in there!
ReplyDeletePraying for a safe and healthy induction for you tomorrow! Can't wait to hear all about it and see cute pictures of the baby! I was induced with both of my children.... One piece of advice is take lots of movies, games, projects to do to the hospital with you. My first induction took almost 48 hours.... Don't be afraid though, it is soooooooo amazing and worth it, especially after having had losses.... To finally hold a baby after having so many babies in heaven that you've never gotten to hold.... Amazing, that's all I can say! I am soooooooo excited for you!
ReplyDeletePraying extra hard for you to have a safe and healthy delivery.
