Can I be...
...a REBEL and post some Little Happies on a Wednesday (Update: Just realized it's actually Thursday...hence the spilled marbles below)?!?!?!
Selfishly, I need the distraction. I am exactly six days away from the dreaded/highly anticipated POAS moment, and suffice to say I am slowly losing my marbles one by one.
Accurate.
Anyway, amidst the neuroses and craziness and shenanigans, there have been a lot of happies this week! So, Stephanie, forgive me, but I'm rollin' out a few late ones... to help me take my mind off this roller coaster of emotions, AND to (hopefully) spread a little mid-week cheer.
1. CREEPER SHOTS
Because isn't that what "Over the Hill" birthday parties or customized t-shirts or general embarrassment/spousal blackmail is all about? T always falls asleep on the train home, and is usually catchin' flies. I'm just biding my time, deciding what I want to do with all of these...glamour shouts. Love ya bug.
2. IMPROMPTU FUN
Tim and I went on a double date last weekend with another couple, and on our way home we decided to stop by Ober.weiss for some ice cream. I got the seasonal Blueberry Pie kid's scoop--YUM. And then, we noticed that there were chess tables set up. Guess what is one activity that, in our 3+ years of knowing each other, we have NEVER done together?! So, we battled it out. As you can see, T was super focused and SUPER competitive (per usual). I tend to be a bit more relaxed, until things start heatin' up! And they did, big time. Battle for the 'check mate' was ON. I don't want to say who won. It's just...whatever.
3. FREE LIBRARY!
What in the what?! There is a 'free library' on a nearby corner, full of books that you can borrow whenever you want! First of all, how cute? Second of all, what an AWESOME idea! I don't read nearly enough anymore. And so, I borrowed "Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace With Marriage" by Elizabeth Gilbert (author of "Eat Pray Love," though I wasn't really a fan of that one). Ha. Because that's who I used to be...a skeptic! Ready to dig in and see what I can learn about my 'former self!' In exchange, I left them some random book called 'The Blonde Theory'...hope someone learns something from it?
4. CONFIRMATION!
This is a picture of me and my AWESOME Confirmandi from this past Monday, the day of her Confirmation into the great Roman Catholic Church! I was so so so honored and proud to be her sponsor, and to proudly present her to the Bishop as "Philomena"...who, eerily enough, is one of my patron saints. I hear you, God! And I am so thankful for the opportunity to share my faith with this awesome girl! The Mass was stunningly beautiful...brought me to tears, actually. An amazing gift, all around, and I felt very blessed to be a part of it (P.S. No judgment on the massive plate of nachos in front of me...well okay, judge if you must).
5. MAGNIFICAT
Per usual. I can't help sharing the ones that move me the most. I couldn't fit it all in a screenshot, but enjoy the text that I did capture. It is truly incredible, and inspirational to me. I hope you feel inspired, too!
6. THE ICE CREAM TRUCK
It's official...SPRING HAS SPRUNG!!! Last night, while walking to my parent's house (and PRAISE GOD that I actually live close enough to my family that I can walk over, something I dreamed of for so long!) I saw, and heard, something that made my heart overflow with happiness--the old-fashioned ice cream truck that I loved so much as a girl (who am I kidding, as an adult, too)! I didn't have any cash, so I couldn't get a Choco Taco...but you better believe that, next time, I'll be ready. WELCOME HOME, WARM WEATHER! We missed you so.

That's a wrap on the happies, for now. On to the semi-stressful/semi-cool stuff...
SYMPTOM UPDATE:
I have literally no idea what is happening with my body. One second I feel totally normal, and the next, I am a mess of crazy potential-pregnancy symptoms. I won't get super into the intimate details, but suffice to say, I may have had implantation pains/spotting last Friday...which would put me at only 4dpo, which, I know, seems way too early. But when I told Dr. C, he told me that it was not impossible. If I end up not being PG, then what was the spotting about? Hard to say, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it. I have all but eliminated mid-cycle spotting, which makes this especially curious.
Also, food tastes weird this week. Symptom of the progesterone? Who knows.
Also, SUPER tired. But wait, I'm always super tired. Again, who knows.
Also, sore. Could be because I'm always bumping into corners and walls. Another who knows.
ALSO, some nausea here and there, lots of cramping, soreness in key places, Creighton-related symptoms, etc. But as of right now, it's all a big-fat WHO KNOWS. And I hate that. But I guess I also kind of like it...for now.
I had a P+7 ultrasound this Monday, and Dr. C said that I definitely definitely ovulated...no LUF, a fear of mine, and "no reason to worry." He called this cycle "AWESOME," and told me that I just need to wait and see, and put all anxiety at the foot of the cross. I am trying. I am trying SO HARD!
It doesn't help that...you know...Mother's Day is this Sunday. I am excited to celebrate with my cool mama, but I will be praying for all of you extra, as well. We are all mothers, spiritually or otherwise, and it is our day, too. You will never be far from my thoughts. Nor will my sweet girls. I wish they could celebrate with me on Sunday, but I know there will be far more celebrating happening where they are!
Would God bless me with good news so close to Mother's Day? Can I dream of a miracle that incredible? Should I get my hopes up, or expect the worst, and then the 'fall' won't hurt so badly?
I don't know. I don't know anything. My brain is soup. Can you tell?
Anyway, POAS happens next Wednesday, on a day when my husband is traveling for work. Please pray for me...for a miracle, if that is God's will. Or for the grace to accept that His plans are perfect, even if they do not line up with mine.
Sorry for the cuckoo post--one of those weeks.
SO MANY PRAYERS AND HUGS, FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU! Thanks for your prayers for me, too. I can feel them, and I appreciate them more than you know!!
Ok, first off, you are ALWAYS allowed to post Little Happies WHENEVER you want! Boom. There, I said it so it's allowed now. :) So happy to have you joining in. And that it's helping to keep you distracted from crazy possible PG, but possible medications-driving-you-crazy symptoms!
ReplyDeleteAlright, so I definitely call my husband "bug" too! It's his least favorite of my terms of endearment for him. I smiled a big one when you used it in this post. That makes 2 nicknames for our husbands that we share. Also, did you happen to get "bug" from Parenthood? 'Cause that's totally where I got it from.
Totally loving all the rest of the happies too! The random little library (how cool!), chess against T, Confirmation, that Magnificat reading! Oh, and Philomena. Have you seen the movie? I just watched it the other night. While I wasn't thrilled with some of the anti-religion themes, I did really love her character. And it prompted me to look up St. Philomena's story. I wish we could know more about her!
Praying for you as you continue debating "am I PG?" and "am I not PG?" in your head. Ahh! The 2WW is torture!!! Sounds like you may have a good chance, but I know I shouldn't say that. :X Your best bet is to set your expectations suuuuuuuper low so that if they're met, it won't hurt as much. Way easier said than done, I know, but it's probs the best advice I got. Don't hesitate to email me if you need a good distraction!!
AHHH good I am glad I didn't break "Little Happies" rules, thanks for making an exception for me!!
DeleteSo funny that we share all of these nicknames...too bad you don't live nearby, or we could double date and publicly embarrass our hubbies with all of these terms of endearment ;) I don't THINK I got it from Parenthood, but honestly who knows? I have all sorts of weird nicknames for T...I will continue to debut them, we might have way more of them in common than we think! :)
My mom saw Philomena and basically said exactly what you did! She did not love some of the messages, but seemed somewhat content with the ending. I am too afraid to see it, it looks so sad! But IRL Philomena is my girl...she's amazing!
THANK YOU per usual for the prayers! It really is purgatory on earth, don't you think?! I may have to take you up on those distractions!!!
When is there NOT a good time for happies? These are great and the quote at the top definitely made me laugh. Praying for you in the midst of the craziness of the 2ww!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS, I thought so too! Prayers for you as well this weekend!!
DeleteDo you and your husband take the train home from work together? If so, how cool! Oh how I miss Ober.wies. I have no clue how to play Chess but looks like fun and how neat you could do something new together! As for your cycle...many many prayers!!!! How absolutely wonderful you know no LUFs! How freaking cool would it be if you conceived the month of your adopt a blogger? I wonder if that'd be a first?
ReplyDeleteWe get to take the train home some days, and when we do, it's really fun! Except for...when he falls asleep, ha! Yes, Ober.weiss is amazing, especially in the summer! THANK YOU so much for the prayers...I agree, it would be SUPER freaking cool!!!! I am giving it all I've got prayer-wise, and everyone else's prayers are definitely helping!!!
DeleteOh, the 2WW and those symptoms that could be early pregnancy or just PMS or side effects from meds--it is enough to make a girl go nuts! Praying this is your cycle!! I think Infertile MN is right--no one has conceived during her month of adopt a blogger. I'm actually not sure if any adopt a blogger has conceived after their month though either...
ReplyDeleteP.S. I love the Magnificat and the page you posted!
You are totally right, it is MORE than enough to make someone go crazy. I know you have been through this exact thing too, so you get it! I am trying to so hard to keep my mind off of it/not google obsessively/etc.etc...but I am losing that battle. Just a few more days now. Prayers are much appreciated!! :)
DeleteThese are great, thank you. I love those little lending libraries, we discovered one on a nearby corner recently. So lovely to live so near family, I'm a tiny bit jealous. I hope and pray today was easy on your heart and you get good results later this week!!!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen one of those libraries until last week--SO cool! I'm glad you have one nearby, too! Yes, it is great to live near family, but it sounds like you have a trip planned soon which is great :) Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers as always!!
